Aspirin
Aspirin is a widely used pain reliever and anti-inflammatory drug that also works as a blood thinner. It is commonly used to treat headaches, muscle pain, fever, and inflammatory conditions like arthritis. Due to its blood-thinning properties, it is often prescribed in low doses to prevent heart attacks and strokes.
Aspirin works by inhibiting prostaglandin production, reducing pain and inflammation. However, it can cause stomach irritation, ulcers, and bleeding risks, especially with long-term use. It is not recommended for children with viral infections due to the risk of Reye’s syndrome, a rare but serious condition affecting the liver and brain.
